2005 National Transportation Week Poster Contest Winners
Since 1962, the Nation has set aside the third week of May to honor those who contribute to our transportation systems and to highlight their achievements. Addressing the challenge of a creative, professional transportation workforce of the future, many activities designed to inspire young people to consider transportation careers are held around the country during this special week.
This year, the 6th annual poster contest produced many creative interpretations of “One Nation On The Move.” Teachers were encouraged to not only ask students to express their ideas in a picture, but to discuss the myriad possibilities for transportation-related careers and how transportation affects everyone’s life. Although the judges were challenged by over 400 excellent entries, they did choose three exceptional posters.
The first place prize is a $200 savings bond to the student and a $500 award to the student’s school; the second place winner receives a $100 savings bond and the schools gets $200; the third place award is a $100 savings bond for the student and $100 for the school.
